Friday.....at last

Sullington Warren for a walk and play in the woods. H wanted to take his bike.....here he is in action!! In the minute after this he went careering down a hill and scrapped his knee. He got back up and got back on!!

We also went swimming on Wednesday. On our own with no other adult. It was good, they all enjoyed themselves and no one drowned! Getting changed afterwards was the best bit, as the two big ones went in a cubicle together and got dressed themselves!!!!!

Foam arrived for the pallet sofa!! Love it! It now has covers too so looks great!!!

Blood under the microscope, from a picked scab....yuck!!

Thursday was an educational visit to Bignor Roman Villa. Was a really good day, just the right amount of hands on, to listening and looking.

Roman Soldiers

Making mosaics (apparently when they made a mosaic they would always put a piece in wrong, so J did the same......can you spot it?)

Grinding corn with a stone. Very proud of J as he went first out of our group and did it really well!

More grinding. They made a fair amount of flour at the end.

We also had a go a spinning some wool. Afterwards we headed off to a near by park for a picnic and the weather was glorious!!

Super horrid headache when we got home, and lots of crazy punching and screaming so an early night for all. It did them good though as this morning it is quieter! We have had the scaletrix out this morning, as I managed to mend a broken piece.

Off to Fishers again, to meet up with friends, think we spent around 3 and a half hours there and we are now suitably worn out. Maybe another early night on the cards......

Still Hot.......

The weekend seemed to pass quite quickly, we made a new pallet sofa for the garden, that I painted on Sunday (pics to follow!) and we took the boys along the Downs Link at Southwater to ride their bikes. Quite successful, J is a maniac, A is a defeatist, and H did really well!!!

We tried a little experiment with the two eldest over the weekend where we didn't give them a bedtime, they were to go to bed when they felt tired. Not going to happen long term. I, for one, feel that after spending every daylight hour with them, that I need some down time away from them. Saturday night A didn't head to bed until after 930pm.......and he didn't stop talking the whole time. The next night it wasn't much better and they actually went to bed better the night after as I think they need the routine of bedtime. Even a little later than normal. I wouldn't mind what time they went to bed, if they got up accordingly in the morning, but they don't, they are early risers and it makes for a long hard day of battles when they are tired. (which is always when they don't sleep properly!)

A is going through a bit of a weird phase at the moment where he seems to be wearing all his winter clothes, on the hottest days of the year so far. The boy who in the middle of winter would not wear a coat or any kind of layer is making up for it now......strange.

Lots of independent play and learning going on this week. We took the boys Hudls away from them a few weeks ago as their behaviour and general well being seemed to be suffering, along with mine!
After the first week they stopped asking about them, the Minecraft obsession ebbed off a bit and sleeping improved a little too. Our TV watching has drastically gone down as well, maybe only watching it a handful of times.....not every day...... Lego has reappeared along with lots of long lost toys from the cupboard. J has spent a few days searching for parts to a Megazord Power Ranger that was a christmas present that never got played with, just broken up, he managed it and now it is THE toy of the moment, along with Buzz and Woody, Octonouts and Diggers.

Sandpit play (H's favourite)

Water play, seeing which objects float and sink. Some were quite suprising!

Unifix cubes and play money arrived. Patterns, buildings, counting........

Iron Man has made a few appearances over the last few days!

Fishers Splash Attack in their pants, as we didn't realise that it would be open yet!!

And lots of reading Harry Potter, H learning to ride his balance bike properly and relaxing on our new pallet sofa in the garden has summed up the beginning of this week!

Hottest Week So Far!!

Gosh, last week seems like such a long time ago!
Swimming on Friday...where H managed to pick up another cold.....rrrraaaaahhhhh!!!
Then onto a friends farm, where we bottled fed two of the lambs. One was 24hrs old and the other a week old. So lovely to have friends such as these, that can offer a better hands on one to one experience than the commercial farms can.

A feeding Titch

J feeding Bert

H feeding Bert

Mummy cuddling Bert!

The boys asked some good questions, and we also got to meet last years orphan lamb 'Dave'. Favourite food is ginger biscuits and anything else he can get hold of!!!

Weekend walk at the local woods, finding daisy's, whilst the bigger ones hid themselves in amongst the undergrowth and behind trees.

Sunday was a trip over to Grandads and a Classic Car Show.

Water pistol action from H

Funny!!!!

This week promised to be hot and it didn't disappoint. We have had some lovely weather!!

Monday we met up with some friends that we haven't seen for a bit, before coming home to an early bedtime. A has been super tired at the moment as he will not relax himself and go to sleep.

Tuesday we took a trip over to Brighton to the Lego Shop. A filled a bucket with bricks and wheels and J made 3 new mini figures. We spent quite a long time in there.
Purchased A some new shoes, after a few tears as his feet were not playing ball, and he ended up going up 2 shoe sizes to get the fit. (I remember the same thing happening to me!)

We attempted to stop off at Brighton Museum too, to see the mummies again, but lo and behold it was shut on that particular day for maintenance!

Playing in the sand...together

Wednesday, I had a haircut so Gaba came to hold the fort, before we had to rush off to Southwater for a Home-Ed kick about. Hottest day....not much football going on.....J got called a match wrecker as he was just hindering the game. He was extremely upset by it all. Next week I will leave A there and take J and H to the park.

Thursday afternoon was a meet up at Warnham Nature Reserve. 28 children....yes 28!!!! It rained on us too!!!! I think we were a bit noisy for any wild life about, but I was a bit disappointed that there wasn't much info as you walked round.

Friday at last, finished off a bit of room dressing. We finally have a grown up bathroom!!!!

Sunny Days

Far away friend came for a visit today, much excitement for the small people! We dragged her to the park where she landed the job of carrying 2 scooters home!!!!

J went for a sleepover at Gabas that evening, where he ate the cupboards bare!!!
I forget that as we are always all together, sometimes the boys need some space from each other and from me. He went to the park solo in the morning before coming back home to reunite with his brothers!

Whilst J was away, A and I had a look at some Egyptian history. We read about hieroglyphics and cuneiform, we made a clay tablet that A wrote his name on in markings. Unfortunately before i could get a picture it got broken up and squashed.
We also read about the Pharaoh that built and was buried in the 'Great Pyramid of Giza'. How the bodies were prepared for mummification and burial and the lengths they went to to stop grave robbers. We also found a YouTube clip of a tour of the Great Pyramid that A watched.

Later in the afternoon we went to the garden centre to pick up some plants and bits for the garden and our new mini pond!! Two garden centres later we came home and potted up some tomatoes and the pond.

A bit of team work action after dinner of window cleaning.......unfortunately I know what I shall be doing later :-)

Fun With Friends

Tuesday was a meet up with 'friends that we don't see that often' day. A chance for all 6 boys to renew their friendships and do loads of crazy playing!!!!

And crazy play they did, for about 5hrs!

This meant that I got to have a few cups of tea and a good chat, and a hilarious moment regarding a frog ;-)

Plans for BBQs and more meet ups.......a lovely sunny day!!!!!!

Easter Monday

Finally got them out for a walk with Milo this morning. Stick investigations.

Operation front garden started again after Daddy got back from work. It looks twice the size now!!!

Mid afternoon and we headed off to Parham House to meet up with some friends for an Easter Egg hunt. A found it a struggle to start with......that's what no sleep does to you....but he won't listen!!

H struggled with his fear of dressed up people. The Easter Bunny in this case. He truely is terrified but at the same time desperately doesn't want to be. I picked him up and he was shaking and crying, but waving at the bunny and speaking in a very high pitched terrified voice. Every time we happened upon the bunny throughout the afternoon the same thing happened. He started to cry (terrified) but waved and squeaky shouted hello and bye. He nearly made me cry he was trying so hard not to be scared :-(

J is going through a bit of a helpful and kind phase, along with his normal stubborn self!

Easter Sunday

Dawned with a Easter egg hunt following clues. Not too hard and not too easy!

After breakfast of mini eggs and more chocolate, we tackled the garden. Quite overgrown at the front and so we pulled the hedge trimmer from the garage and set to work.

Disaster struck half way through the first bush as the trimmer 'go' button got stuck down and nearly caught fire, so operation bush trim had to be cut short!!!

Lunch at Nana and Gramps, where there boys hooked up with their cousins and had a mega Minecraft session. A did a good job of teaching cousin J how to navigate and play.
Daddy got a bit tipsy and had the boys in hysterics on the ride home.
Borrowed another hedge trimmer.

Big boys having trouble falling asleep again, with A still being awake when we went to bed. This had the knock on effect, especially on waking up at 630, that he was screechy and emotional the next day.

Easter Saturday

We spent an hour and a half at Sullington yesterday afternoon, playing in the woods and wearing out poor Milo with his ball!!

Digging in the sand

Bit of a grey day today, but operation garage clearance was in full swing. Much tidier than before and you can walk to the other end now too!!

Boys watched BigHero6 last night and again at breakfast......got to love Baymax.....da la da la la la la.
Tried unsuccessfully to install a techpack launcher for mods on minecraft, playing with diggers and bricks, H being sick in Daddies van and paintings of daffodils have summed up today. Finished off with a yummy roast dinner and an Easter bunny (massacre ;-)) chocolate cake at Gaba and Pops.

We also discovered that number 7 is the most popular number.

H painted this beautiful daffodil.....before covering it with orange paint

J wrote his name and a 6/b and a 9 not a p

Our Bertie Botts Every Flavour Beans arrived today too. Vomit, bogies, earwax, earthworm, dirt, grass and soap featured amongst the flavours. The faces of the boys on trying them was hilarious...especially the vomit one....poor A was nearly sick afterwards!!!!!!!
